Experienced Piping or Plumbing Designer Location: Fond du Lac, WI We have built a reputation as one of the best mechanical and fire protection contractors in the country. We are looking for an Experienced Piping or Plumbing Designer to join our team in Fond du Lac, WI. Responsibilities The Senior Designer models complex mechanical piping and/or plumbing systems based on provided designs and then develops all associated system drawings, specifications, calculations, and bill of material lists for assigned projects. The Senior Designer plays a critical design lead role on the project team, modeling and coordinating comprehensive systems of varying size and scope for the designated division at J. F. Ahern so that field/shop has what they need to ensure optimal productivity and efficiency. The design role is the origin point for all projects; the Senior Designer consistently operates independently and methodically in a fast‑paced environment to set up subsequent stages for success and timely completion. Qualifications Candidates must have 3‑5 years of experience designing mechanical piping and/or plumbing systems, an Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Design, Civil Engineering, Computer‑Aided Drafting/Design or a related field. Proficiency in a recent version of Revit, Navisworks and Autodesk Construction Cloud (Forma) is required. Candidates should have a strong understanding of commercial/industrial building construction, knowledge of the Wisconsin plumbing code and mechanical piping systems, and the ability to manage a design team’s schedule, lead coordination, problem‑solve, use math skills and read blueprints.
