Plumbing Technician Development Program (12-Week Training Program)

Metro Plumbing, Heating & Air – Chattanooga, TN

Metro Plumbing, Heating & Air is offering a 12-week Plumbing Technician Development Program for individuals who want to build a long-term career in residential plumbing service.

This program is designed to train future Plumbing Service Technicians who are skilled at diagnosing plumbing problems, communicating clearly with homeowners, and recommending solutions.

This is a technician development program, not a licensed plumber apprenticeship.

Training is primarily hands-on and field-based , with ride-along experience alongside experienced technicians and limited classroom instruction.

Program Schedule

Our training program runs in cohorts that begin approximately every 12 weeks.

Applicants may be selected for the next available class or contacted for future classes later in the year.

What You Will Learn

During the 12-week program, you will learn:

• Residential plumbing fundamentals
• How to diagnose common plumbing problems
• How to communicate clearly with homeowners
• How to explain plumbing issues in simple terms
• How to present repair and replacement options
• How to build trust with customers
• Hands-on skills through ride-along training with experienced technicians

The majority of training takes place in the field , working alongside experienced plumbing professionals.

Successful participants will be prepared to move into a Plumbing Service Technician role with our company.

Customer Communication & Sales

This role requires strong customer communication skills and comfort with sales conversations.

Our technicians:

• Diagnose plumbing issues
• Explain problems to homeowners
• Present repair and replacement options

Because of this, individuals who struggle with sales conversations may find this role challenging.

• Clean background and MVR

• Ability to learn quickly and follow instructions
• Ability to lift tools and work outdoors
