ASSOCIATE PASTOR OF DISCIPLESHIP AND CONGREGATIONAL CARE
The mission of Rock Prairie Church is to make Christ known from our neighbors to the nations. The vision of the church is for Christ to be known truly, deeply and widely.
The Associate Pastor of Discipleship and Congregational Care is responsible for the oversight and implementation of all ministries pertaining to the “deeply” portion of our vision statement, namely, “Making Christ known deeply through prayer, discipleship and fellowship.” This position is also responsible to ensure that the members of Rock Prairie Church are caring for one another and being cared for by the elders.
The ideal candidate will be passionate about both people and processes. Who is comfortable making a hospital visit as well as helping design and implement a discipleship structure for all members of our church to grow in their faith.
Primary Responsibilities:
Discipleship
Develop, implement, and evaluate a discipleship strategy that helps members know Christ deeply
Plan and oversee the Foundations Discipleship Hour
Equip and encourage the Life Group leaders, including regular training and individual meetings with each leader
Oversee the Prayer Team, and help them implement a strategy for corporate prayer gatherings
Congregational Care
Create processes to connect members to biblical counseling
Create processes to connect sick, hospitalized, and homebound members to congregational and elder care
Create processes to connect elders to members in need
Counsel and visit church members as needed
Connect Senior Pastor to counseling and visiting opportunities
Relationship to Senior Pastor
Work in step with Senior Pastor to ensure that the Mission and Vision of Rock Prairie Church are being carried out
Triage congregational care issues in order to elevate some to Senior Pastor and act as a buffer for others
Assist the Senior Pastor in leading the staff and strategic planning for the future
Anticipate needs and work to fulfill them in such a way as to set up the Senior Pastor for success
Administrative Duties and General Expectations
Preach Sunday morning services approx. 6x /year
Attend all scheduled staff meetings (weekly), elder meetings (2x/month) and other meetings as required
Attend and participate in Sunday morning worship services
Lead mission trips periodically as required
Develop and oversee the discipleship and congregational care budget
Other duties as required by Senior Pastor/elders
Education/Experience
Bachelor’s degree required, seminary degree preferred
3-5 years of full-time ministry experience preferred
Salary commensurate with education and experience
